Terms & Conditions

These terms govern every reservation made with Otto the Connect. Booking a vehicle means you accept them alongside the signed rental agreement you receive at pickup.

Last updated August 2026

1. Reservations and confirmation

A reservation is a request until verification is approved and the required payment is received. Requested dates are held while your submission is under review and released if verification is not completed.

Confirmed dates are removed from public availability immediately. A vehicle cannot be double-booked.

2. Driver eligibility

Each vehicle carries its own minimum age and licensing requirement, listed on its detail page. All drivers must be named and approved on the rental agreement.

  • Valid, unexpired driver's license issued in the renter's legal name
  • Full-coverage insurance meeting the vehicle's stated liability minimum
  • Clean driving record with no major violations in the preceding three years
  • A major credit card in the renter's name for the security authorization

3. Payments and security authorization

Amounts due today are charged at checkout. The security deposit is an authorization hold on your credit card, not a charge, and is released after the vehicle is returned in original condition with no outstanding tolls, citations, mileage overage, fuel shortfall, or damage.

Payment processing is handled by our payment provider. We do not store full card numbers.

4. Vehicle use

The following are prohibited and constitute a breach of the agreement:

  • Racing, track use, timed events, competition, or off-road driving
  • Towing, hauling, or transporting goods for hire
  • Operating under the influence of alcohol or any impairing substance
  • Smoking or vaping inside the vehicle
  • Transporting pets without prior written approval
  • Taking the vehicle outside the approved geographic area without authorization
  • Allowing an unapproved driver to operate the vehicle

5. Mileage and fuel

Each rental includes the daily mileage allowance shown on the vehicle page. Additional miles are billed at that vehicle's extra-mile rate. Vehicles are delivered with a full tank and must be returned full; shortfalls are billed at market rate plus a refueling fee.

6. Damage, tolls, and citations

The renter is responsible for damage, loss, tolls, parking, and traffic violations occurring during the rental period. Claims are documented with time-stamped condition photographs taken at handoff and return.

7. Cancellations and changes

Cancellation and modification terms are set out in our Rental Policies and form part of these terms.

8. Liability and governing law

Otto the Connect is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including missed events or travel connections. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida.
